What an NFC tap-code actually does (and why QR codes lost)

A QR code asks a customer to do four things: notice it, open their camera, line up the shot, and wait for the link to resolve. Most people don't bother.

An NFC tap-code asks for one thing: hold the phone near it. iPhones and most Androids open the link automatically, no app required.

For a high-street business that means the gap between 'I liked this' and 'I'm now following / reviewing / rebooking' shrinks to about two seconds. Every bit of friction removed is a customer who doesn't change their mind halfway through.

It's a small, physical thing — a card by the till, a sticker on the table — doing a job that used to need a sign nobody read.
